10 injured in baton charge at army recruitment drive


Jammu, April 27 (IANS): Ten people were injured in Jammu and Kashmir's Reasi district on Monday as police carried out a baton charge to restore order at an army recruitment drive which drew huge crowds, police said.

Police had to intervene to restore order during the Territorial Army recruitment drive at Talwara in Reasi, a senior police officer told IANS here.

"Police used batons to restore order and check stampede at Talwara where youths turned out in large numbers for recruitment," the officer said, adding 10 people including some policemen were injured in the clashes which ensued after police intervened.
