Mangaluru: Gold found concealed under seat in aircraft, Andhra man arrested

Mangaluru, Apr 27: The officers of customs at Mangalore International Airport on Monday April 27 seized gold worth Rs 50.55 lac and arrested a passenger.

The accused passenger, identified as Mohammed Luqman Ahmed, aged about 29 years, is a resident of Hyderabad, Andra Pradesh.

The officials seized 16 ten-tola gold bars altogether weighing 1865.650 grams, valued at Rs 50,55,912.

The gold bars were found concealed underneath the seat in a Jet Airways aircraft from Dubai in which he had travelled. The fllight arrived at around 9.30 am on Monday.

Ahmed was arrested and produced before the chief judicial magistrate, Mangaluru, for remand.

Further investigation is under progress.

    I always have a doubt on Mangalore Customs- are they involved in this for percentage or do they real catch someone even after so many incidents. Why would a smuggler do the same mistake which which the other has done and has been cought.
    What happens to this gold and the person who is caught? Or may more gold is passed and some is caught for name and for percentage. Why only Mangalore airport always?

    Baggage is Xrayed, and persons are made to walk through metal detectors.
    Even hidden in rectum will be noticed.
