Beltangady: Youth arrested, booked under POCSO for kidnapping, impregnating girl

Daijiworld Media Network - Beltangady

Beltangady, Apr 28: A youth was arrested on Monday April 27 for allegedly 'kidnapping' a girl, 'raping' and making her pregnant.

The accused is Jagadish (23), a resident of Anila in Kuvettu village. He had been missing for sometime, about which a separate complaint had been filed in Beltangady police station.

Based on credible information, the police went to Hunsur in Mysuru district and traced Jagadish and the girl. Acting on the statement given by the girl, the police arrested him and produced him in the court. He has been remanded in judicial custody for 15 days.

Sources said that the girl had been in love with Jagadish for the past three years. The affair that started in high school continued into college, culminating in physical relationship. After the girl became pregnant, the couple on April 13 rode to Hunsur by bike, where they stayed in Jagadish's elder brother's house.

The police have now booked Jagadish under POCSO Act.

Married woman sexually harassed

In another case, a youth was booked for allegedly sexually harassing a married woman.

The woman who works for a power generation unit has accused Shibu Balan of sexually harassing her, and two others - Shibu Joseph and Swaminathan for abetting the crime.

The woman separated from her husband about eight years ago.

In the complaint, it is alleged that when she was sweeping the floor the power generation unit's office on April 16, Balan forced himself upon her. He reportedly promised to marry her and coaxed her to have sex with her, and when she refused, he tried to drag her into a nearby forest, it is alleged.

Joseph and Swaminathan who are employees at the same place as the woman, reportedly supported Balam and helped him abscond, states the complaint filed by the woman.

They both were in love from it is kidnapped, rape. The Law has made to protect women not to misuse. Before arresting at least these points have taken to notice..

Nowadays unmarried girls filing false rape case and married women are filing dowry harassment / physical torture case..

Common girls Law has made us to protect not to misuse..

@Ashwyn Suratkal , Its tricky. Even if man has nupitals with minor , its prohibited but once ceremony happens marriage is still valid ( though voidable ). So if the above boy tied the knot before hatching the 'runaway' , a good lawyer can dissolve him all charges of POCSO act as according to crpc 2013 , the exception clause defines 15 as age of consent for married girl.

Great!! Mera Bharat mahan!! The news reads : Sources said that the girl had been in love with Jagadish for the past three years. The affair that started in high school continued into college, culminating in physical relationship. After the girl became pregnant, the couple on April 13 rode to Hunsur by bike, where they stayed in Jagadish's elder brother's house.
He is 23 and I cant see the girl's age. What is wrong in it? They are in love and the sex is consensual. She might be under 18 and they might be waiting for her to turn to that 18 for our LAW to marry her. He did not deserted her, so what's the problem??

These crimes of sexual assaults are on the increase. PREVENTION IS BETTER THAN CURE and therefor it is best that counseling centers are opened at various places to help young people and direct them in the right path.

Hey, be practical when commenting. Does India have that law to shoot someone for the rape charges? Here the girl is also equally responsible for the crime. The best solution is to have their marriage solemnized.
