Kundapur: Hit by tanker, woman dies at hospital

Kundapur, Apr 28: After a tanker hit a motor bike near Belve in the taluk, a woman suffered grave injuries and later died at a hospital.

The accident had occurred on Sunday April 26 evening, and the injured woman died late at night. The victim has been identified as Parvati Poojarthi (48) from Kota Manoor in Udupi taluk.

Sainath Poojary from Kota Manoor was riding a motor bike in the pillion of which his mother-in-law, Parvati Poojarthi, was seated. When the motor bike was moving near Belve, a tanker hit the motor bike, inflicting grave injuries on both of them. The driver of the tanker sped away without bothering to take care of the injured persons.

Both were injured in the accident. Parvati was admitted into a private hospital in Manipal with serious head injuries. She did not respond to treatments and died a few hours later. Sainath is recovering.

A complaint about the accident has been registered in Shankarnarayana police station.
