Chinese investment in Pakistan neither loan nor grant: Sharif

Islamabad, April 29 (IANS): Pakistan Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif has said the money being spent by China in Pakistan is not a loan or grant but an investment, a media report said on Wednesday.

Before leaving for Islamabad from London on Tuesday night, Sharif told reporters that Chinese investment in Pakistan under China-Pakistan Economic Corridor project covers construction of motorways and installation of energy projects, Radio Pakistan reported.

He said a new Gwadar city would be built with the cooperation of China and its benefits will be reaped by the entire country.

Describing Britain as a friend country, Sharif said, it plays an important role in the field of education in Pakistan.

"Relations between Britain and Pakistan are very good," he said, adding that Britain appreciates Pakistan's efforts against terrorism.

Sharif arrived in Britain on April 24 on a five-day visit on the invitation of Prime Minister David Cameron.
