Odisha announces Rs.5 crore assistance for Nepal


Bhubaneswar, April 30 (IANS): Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Thursday announced Rs.5 crore assistance to Nepal for the victims affected by the earthquake.

"The chief minister has announced Rs.5 crore assistance to Nepal government for the relief and rehabilitation of earthquake victims in Nepal," said a release from the chief minister's office.

The release said the government has deputed three senior officials of the Odisha State Disaster Mitigation Authority (OSDMA) to Nepal to assist in the ongoing relief and restoration operation.

Patnaik earlier proposed to send Odisha Disaster Rapid Action Force (ODRAF) teams to Nepal to help people in the relief and restoration work.

The chief minister expressed hope that normalcy would return soon in the country. The severe earthquake had caused extensive loss of life and property in the Himalayan country.
