Udupi: Woman found dead under suspicious circumstances, husband detained

Udupi, May 1: A married woman was found dead in an open well under suspicious circumstances at Jannadi Bidlakatte, Maladi here on Friday May 1. Her husband has been taken into custody.

The deceased has been identified as Indira (33), wife of Devendra.

It is learnt that on the night of Thursday April 30, Devendra and Indira had a fight, reportedly over the issue of their six-year-old son's admission to school. It is said that Devendra is addicted to alcohol and used to fight over money too with his wife.

At around 5.30 am on Friday, Devendra called up some relatives and said that his wife's body was found in the open well located near their house.

Indira had been to her parental house and returned to Maladi just two days ago. She was supposed to go back to her mother's house on April 30 but could not due to bus strike.

Her husband Devendra has been taken into custody for inquiry.

Circle inspector Arun Naik and other police personnel visited the spot and investigated.

Kota police are investigating further.

    Same alcohol cause the biggest tragedy of Air India Express where the small kids, ladies and men lost their valauable life at the time landing at Mangalore Airport coming from Dubai The pilot of Serbia is mainly responsible who is fully drinks alcohol and over shoot at the run way. So my intention is only point out the result of alcohol. So my humbly request from concerned authorities to ban the alcohol to avoid gang rape, husband wife quarrel,tremendous accident etc, etc.,

    Gang rape, suicide, husband wife quarrel and dangerous accidents is happening only cause of alcohol. If government will not take necessary action there is no stop of crime. Government will giving the attention towards Ghar wapsi,and safety of cow. First of give safety to human being then go maata. So threw husband in the same well where he through the wife by the help of alcohol. may Allah give a peace to her soul and strength to bear the loss of her family.

    sattar first upon tell me where government said gharwapsi is its agenda? in Karnataka congress is ruling , it didn't say it will save cows. And what do you expect the government should send a police or its spokesperson when husband and wife fights in the night? banning alchol is nto the solution. its a very sad incident one lady lost her life.

    Very sad incident.In spite of all these tragedies,deaths alcohol is still not been banned or stopped production.Only because of this alcohol consumption how many poor families have been devastated,spoiled.Government still keeping silent on this issue like mute spectator.Poor families are the one spoiled too much due to this alcohol menace.Pray to God to grant eternal peace to the departed soul and heartfelt condolence to the bereaved family.RIP

    We must make our state dry n liquor free state in line with kerala n gujarath..liquor is the major cause of fights n deaths....if we need a good n peaceful family life we must abstain from consuming alcohol. Alcohol breakups family n destroys it n the victims are mostly women n kids..

    How much of alcohol supply do you want in the states mentioned by you? Banning alcohol is a big loss to the exchequer as those who want to drink will outsource it from other states or buy in black or even start brewing at home, banning is not the solution, banning is a big loss to the state exchequer and a haven for black marketers and bootleggers who will start minting money and poor people will die consuming spurious chemical liquor!! Do you know Kerala once paid the highest taxes for alcohol than any other commodity (more than even fuel), which is supposed to be a record in the entire world!!

    Even though I condemn getting addicted to alcohol, which is true also for all things in life!!

    bizarre argument! consider the number of people born because alcohol, than getting killed! vhe vhe vhe

    just see the death and murder figures, where alcohol is banned, countries and state!

    electricity has killed many people too, due to bad earthing, electrocution etc! so, solution is to ban electricity!..? vhe vhe vhe

    anything beyond limits is dangerous! it need not be alcohol..! sugar content will also be poisonous or simple TV watching and whastapp addiction may also create a fight between the couple!..

    address the issue.. there is poverty, and agony in masses! lots of worries.. no jobs, no income, no social status! that person gets into escapism and drinks to forget his worries and body ache.. once in a while is Ok.. but when he turns alcoholic and addicted, depression sets in and then quarrels starts.. it is for all class actually..even rich and affluent torutre their wives.. but the poor ones, start fighting on street and makes it look ugly fist fighting!... COunselling in right time, deaddiction, and specially gramabhivraddhi and jobs like what Veerendra heggade does, and then basic education, and making one realise his duties /DHARMA towards his family and society.. that is important!...

    when siddu comes up with cheap liquor and free rice, and milk ideas, lazyness creeps in society! dont cure the syptoims, eradicate the problem/disease!

    Vellano Bro, agree with your unbiased logical comments!! Even though addiction and disputes in families are found both in rich and poor, the poor are more prone to the reasons cited by you and the rich do not have to wash their linen in public and due to their access to lots of money they immediately take course to divorce or make other suitable arrangement unlike the poor who do not have any hope nor anybody to help our counsel them. The so called people who enforce ban on alcohol and other things in their respective autocratic countries are said to go abroad and enjoy all the pleasures of life in pomp and style!! Jai Hind!!
