Comedian Papa CJ performs in capital for Nepal relief

New Delhi, May 2 (IANS): Hailing from a family of trekkers who have regularly been to Nepal, popular stand-up comedian Papa CJ performed his new "Naked" show in the capital to raise funds to support relief efforts for the victims of the earthquake, which jolted the Himalayan nation last week.

He took to the stage at a hotel here Friday night, and hopes to perform in more cities to amass as many resources he can to aid victims.

"We charged an entry fee of Rs.2,000, and this will go to charities who are helping the relief efforts in Nepal. Additionally, there was also an option of letting people donate via cheque or cash at the venue itself," he told IANS.

The last-minute show happened when Papa CJ put up an offer on his social media page on Monday, and one thing lead to another, making the show to be a reality.

A trained mountaineer himself, Papa CJ says he had trekked to the Mount Everest Base Camp, which was hit by an avalanche after a 7.9-magnitude earthquake and its aftershocks shook Nepal.
His show was also special as it was the first time that the 'ambassador of happiness' was performing "Naked" officially in India.

In this autobiographical show -- which he also showcased at the Melbourne International Comedy Festival earlier this year -- Papa CJ shares tales of school, work, love, sex, passion, heartbreak and hope.
