Stay on your own, Nepal to aid workers

Kathmandu, May 3 (IANS): Aid workers pouring into Nepal to help with earthquake relief and rescue work should make their own arrangements for accommodation, food and transport, the government said on Sunday.

The foreign ministry also said that distribution of aid should be in conformity with international standards and norms.

The government has separately issued a list of priority items required for relief operations being undertaken in the country in the aftermath of the April 25 earthquake that has left thousands dead.

The list has been sent to all diplomatic missions, the UN and specialized agencies and other international organisations based in Kathmandu.
