Islamabad, May 3 (IANS): Pakistan Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif has set up a special relief fund for the quake-hit people of Nepal, a top official said on Sunday.

Foreign Secretary Aizaz Ahmad Chaudhry said at a news conference here that Pakistanis at home and abroad can send their contributions to the fund, Xinhua news agency reported.

A senior official of the country's disaster management agency said Pakistan has earmarked $3-4 million for relief activities in Nepal.

Pakistan has already sent six C-130 aircraft loaded with relief consignments, including tents, medicines and food items, to Kathmandu.

A 30-bed mobile hospital from Pakistan with 50 doctors is also working in the Nepalese capital.

Chaudhry said the Pakistan army's special teams were also closely coordinating in the search and relief operations in quake-hit areas of Nepal, and added that the Nepalese army chief has visited one of the Pakistani relief camps and lauded Pakistan's relief operations.

Nepal's Ambassador to Pakistan, Bharat Raj Paudyal, said his country was grateful to the government and people of Pakistan for the generous support extended at this difficult time.

He said 35 districts of Nepal were badly hit in the 7.9-magnitude earthquake on April 25.
