Government employee shot dead in Srinagar


Srinagar, May 4 (IANS): A Jammu and Kashmir health department employee was shot dead by unidentified gunmen in Srinagar district on Monday, police said. The motive behind the murder was yet to be ascertained.

"Unidentified gunmen killed Abdul Ahad Dar, an employee of the state health department," a senior police officer told IANS here.

"Gunmen forced entry into the lawn of Dar's house at Gasu village on the outskirts of Srinagar city today and fired a volley with automatic guns at him. He died on the spot and the gunmen escaped," the officer said, adding an FIR has been lodged and investigation has been started to find the motive behind the crime.
