Five beheaded in Saudi Arabia for Indian's murder

Jeddah, May 4 (IANS/AKI): Five people were beheaded in Saudi Arabia for killing an Indian during an armed robbery, the interior ministry announced on Monday.

The convicts - two from Yemen and one each from Chad, Eritrea and Sudan - were executed in the western coastal city of Jeddah, the ministry said.

No further details of the case were provided, other than that the armed robbery took place in a store.

The kingdom executed 87 people in 2014, according to rights group Amnesty International. Over 70 people have already been put to death this year.

Murder, apostasy, armed robbery and drug trafficking are all punishable with death.

Saudi Arabia is among the five countries that execute most people in the world, according to Amnesty's 2014 global report.

Prakash, if you read my comment you will notice I did say crime may not have ceased, I did not say crime is absent here in the gulf. And what are you talking about, don’t Indians employ underage girls and children as maids and rape them consistently over years, see some episodes of Saavdan India or Crime Patrol and watch how children as young as 9 are brutalized when raped. Rapes of maids happen everywhere even in UK and US, there were instances of Indians holding maids without salaries for more than 10 years and raping the women even with the knowledge of the women in the house. And one more thing, rapes of maids are mostly done by the pimps or agents who bring them here. Please visit this site http://www.shwc.ae/default.aspx, I have been there on a voluntary basis and heard stories from these maids, all of them were either raped on arrival or sold to more than 10 men a day, yes there were a few who did run away from harsh treatments from their employers, maybe they were raped too but comparatively the ratio is much lesser and the brutality is much lesser compared to India. I do agree rape happens everywhere. And like you said it is reported here in the news. And yes my girls are more paranoid when walking the streets in Mumbai than in Abu Dhabi, alteast here we don’t have men waiting to touch us in buses and hit into us when walking on the streets.
I am an Indian and am proud to be an Indian, but yes there are instances like these which make you hang your head in shame. Believe me its not easy to write all this.

Muslims cry secularism when they are in minorities in a Nation, however when they are in majority in any nation they forget secularism..

Good question. But Saudi Govt does not have to face any allegations accusations from various different communities, once their Apex court passes the Judgement.

"Murder, apostasy, armed robbery and drug trafficking are all punishable with death"

Mr. Shahnawaz are suggesting that Apostasy is a crime? and that too should be punished in India and around the world with death by beheading? What if ALL countries had the same rules as Saudi, imagine what would life be like on this planet.

THERE IS NO FAIR TRAIL IN SAUDI COURTS,ALL THE COURT HEARINGS ARE DONE IN ARABIC,EXPATS CONVICTED DON'T UNDERSTAND ANYTHING DURING THE TRAIL,AND IN THE END THEY COME TO KNOW THEY HAVE BEEN AWARDED THE DEATH PENALTY,AN INNOCENT PERSON WRONGLY CONVICTED HAS NO TIME AND CHANCE TO PROVE HIS INNOCENCE ,THESE MEDIEVAL METHODS NEEDS TO BE SCRAPPED ASAP.

Going by your logic Shanawaz, Saudi Arabia and other such countries following similar barbaric traditions should have had no history of crime. Why are you not surprised that crime has not ceased in Saudi despite having the most cruel of punishments?

Crime may not have ceased but it is definitely at a minimum level. Please don't compare any gulf countries to India, they are far more civilized and much better in their treatment to Indians, 19 years in the Gulf and I can vouch for it.
With the crime rate in India, there should be strict laws and punishments or else yours and my kin will be next in line. Nobody is spared in India, the mentality of Indian men is currently at its lowest, not sparing even little kids.

Sunita, you think the Middle East is so safe? Ask the majority of maids in the region and you will hear stories of rape and cruelty that will reduce you to tears. Just because it is not reported, does not make it safer. Would you as an example let your young kids go around unprotected in Abu Dhabi?

You are correct....We can have like this punishment.... Now Saudi Arabia beheaded 5 for Indians murder but in India if any body murder other people our people will oppose the judgement on the basis of religion. i.e. If Hindus are murderer than some Hindus will tell some political agenda behind this, if Muslim than Muslim will support these murderers or any other religion or political party. Whey can't we close our eyes and judge on criminal activity??????
