Delhi minister suspends six transport department employees


New Delhi, May 5 (IANS): Delhi Transport Minister Gopal Rai has suspended six employees after he caught them taking bribes, a statement said on Tuesday.

Rai had conducted a surprise check on the night of May 1-2 at the Azadpur flyover and the six employees were caught red-handed collecting bribes from truck drivers.

"The department has suspended the six employees and has also decided to initiate departmental proceedings against them," the statement said.

Of the six employees, five belong to the enforcement wing of the transport department and one is employed with the Delhi Transport Corporation.
