Finally, Sukhbir Badal meets molestation victim's family

Moga (Punjab), May 5 (IANS): Five days after a teenaged girl was molested and pushed out of a bus owned by his company leading to her death, Punjab Deputy Chief Minister Sukhbir Singh Badal on Tuesday finally met the family members of the victim here.

Badal met Arshdeep Kaur's family at the Civil Hospital-Moga and termed the incident "very unfortunate".

The victim's mother, Shinder Kaur, who was also thrown out of the same bus near Moga town last Wednesday, is admitted at the hospital with serious injuries.

Assuring the family of "exemplary punishment" to the culprits, Badal said the Punjab government would stand with the family.

The death of the girl led to protests in Moga and other places in Punjab. Activists and the victim's family demanded a case be registered against Badal as he was owner of the bus transport company.

The company, Orbit Aviation, had earlier agreed to pay Rs.24 lakh as compensation to the victim's family. The Punjab government also offered a job to a kin of the victim.
