Rural development ministry officials held for taking bribe


New Delhi, May 5 (IANS): The CBI on Tuesday said it has arrested two officials of the rural development ministry for accepting bribes.

Satish Kalhotra, deputy secretary, and Pradhan Singh, section officer, were caught red-handed accepting a bribe of Rs.45,000 from the complainant who used to provide taxis to the ministry.

The duo had demanded a bribe of Rs.68,000 in return for clearing bills of the complainant, the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) said in a statement.

A case under the Prevention of Corruption Act was registered against the officials.
