Bantwal, May 6: The remains of an ancient temple have been found in the forest at Kedage near Allipade of Devasya Padoru Grama. The remains are located on the base of a group of trees. A stone looking like the pedestal of a deity and a formation like an idol were found there. It is suspected that those may be the remains of the Brahmabaidarkala Temple.

Aithappa Bangera, a local, had identified some of the remains known as ‘Mud Pape’, ‘Kadthale’ and ‘Manigante’ when he had gone to the forest. A local astrologer, when asked, had said that Koti and Chennaya and several deities have lived here. Further enquiries in other places also have revealed that there was a temple there.

As the people did not have enough resources to restore the temple, it has remained in that state, say the locals. The news has spread in the village.

Locals Chandrahas Noorthadi, Jaya Poojary, Chandrashekar Kedage, Padmanabha Marayithottu, Thimmayya Moolya, Bhoja Kulal, Vasu Poojary Allipade, Dayananda Salian and Vittala Poojary Pundibailu visited the place. A group of youth from Narikombu arrived at the place and returned after scrutiny.

The locals have decided to ask the deity regarding the temple’s antecedents.Asking the deity some relevant questions during religious functions is a tradition in Dakshina Kannada villages.

The Youths OR so called historians from Narikombu will arrange for Ashta Mangala Prashne and then the Jyothishi will tell that there was a Gopala Krishna & Durga Temple in this place where Bhargava or Brigu Rushi did penance and Gods killed Narikombasura hence very holy place and a temple has to be built immediately. (Narikombasura looked like Nari or Fox and had Kombu or Horns on his head, hence this place name Narikombu)
Then immediately these youths will print receipt books and go to Mumbai Pune Bengaluru for collection, and ultimately small temple will be built and major portion of collection will go to the pockets of those so called local historians.

"Asking the diety some relevant questions during religious functions is a tradition in Dakshina Kannada vilages."
Two spelling mistakes ..O.K....When I copied and pasted I came to know...Diety and Vilages. However this is not relevant....
1.What is meant by 'some relevant questions'??
I ask because in some places I have asked 'pertinent questions'....and I confess in some places my 'dark secrets' have been uttered in my ears by the deity'!! One deity even said 'imbe baari tiruguve....chittelu paanda imbeg
    masth ishtaa..athaa baale?
    2. A group of youth from Narikombu arrived at the place and returned after scrutiny....O.K. O.K.
    Who were they??
    What are their findings??
Are they 'Historians' or something or just 'Youth'??...Just curious.

I do not know about others Rudolf Baab but after gulping a few pegs of 'Modern Somarasa' with hot Samosas,I can see through everybody and everything and tell precisely what's haunting them! The persons coming and asking advice from me are therefore more in number when I am gulping rather than when I am sober!
