Salman case- Crucial witness Sambagowda is Kannadiga

Daijiworld Media Network-Mumbai (RJP)

Mumbai, May 7: It is big news throughout the world now that Bollywood actor Salman Khan has been convicted in a 2002 hit- and- run case in which one person was killed and four were injured. The first witness of this case and also a crucial witness Sambagowda hails from Karnataka.

Sambagowda had a tea shop near the pavement of American Express bakery, the spot where the accident had taken place on Hill Road, Bandra West in Mumbai.

Sambagowda was present when the accident took place and his witness helped in the conviction of the Bollywood actor.

As per Sambagowda’s statement to the police and as per his testimony later in the court, Sambagowda had narrated how the accident had taken place.

Sambagowda had said that the car which came to the footpath in high speed killed a person and injured four who were sleeping on the foot path. The car had rammed into the tea stall belonging to Sambagowda also. The tea stall was totally damaged.

The police who came later collected crucial evidence from the site which also Sambagowda witnessed. He told the court that he could identify easily all the materials and evidences connected to the accident.

Sambagowda’s role in the conviction of Salman Khan was so important that it seems without him the case would not have reached so far.

after this accident Salman changed a lot. he started to donate money to poor and cancer patients for public sympathy .. he was supported by minority public.. but as his life was getting more toughened he got support from Mr bala Saheb Thakrey. as per his guidance Salman had to follow Hindu culture and in return he was safe in Mumbai. at last nothing worked.. nothing is above the law.

The court proved that Being Human is not enough....
You're a HUMAN BEING first in the eyes of Law.
It was really disgusting to see whole of Bollywood coming out in full strength to support Salman Khan with outpouring of sadness over Khan’s conviction with not a word of sympathy for the kith and kin of the man who died on the city’s pavements. It was almost as if Khan had been convicted for swatting a fly the so called intellects from Bollywood seemed to have forgotten that a man who’s the poorest who sleeps on a pavement is also an human being.

Justice is not the monopoly of rich or well to do. It is duty of sitting judge to see that there is no denial of the rights of a poor person. Whatever Salman did, the judgment pronounced by giving him punishment. I knw no body above the law...... But its nt fair with SALMAN, I mean Salman got the Harsher punishment by trial court ,compare to the other High Profile Hit & Run cases.
1.Sanjeev Nanda, the grandson of Admiral SM Nanda, was sentenced to 2 years' imprisonment by a trial court almost 10 years after Nanda ran his BMW over six people, including three Delhi Police officers who manned the checkpoint at Lodhi Road intersection, the site of the accident, on January 10, 1999.Two constables and two others died on the spot, and another policeman and a bystander sucumbed in hospital.
2.Alistair Anthony Pereira, the scion of a family of realtors, drove his Toyota Corolla onto a group of construction workers sleeping along Mumbai's Carter Road when he was driving drunk on November 12, 2006. Seven people died and eight were injured. Pereira was sentenced to six months in jail by a local court leading to criticism .

Salman Khan, who caused accident 13 years ago is entirely differant person than Salman Khan of today. Those days, he was like tapori and mislead. But he is mature guy now.
He donates big amount of money from what he earns to poor and needy. Thousands of sick & needy people are getting benefits from his charity organisation 'Being Human'.

Daily we are reading accident news on internet/news papers & lot of people dies on road due to careless driving by drivers. Are all those drivers, who caused deaths of innocent people, in jail? If yes, for how many years???

Are we not witnessing big shots, who plot murders, holding most important posts in Central cabinet and national party committee???

I am very sad to read the 'foot path is not bed room to sleep" My NRI friends know very well why they migrated to gulf for the want of job which lacking in India. When the time of war or other calamities in gulf these Indian beeline the airport and then reach to Mumbai to sleep in foot path, then reach their destination with govt. help. Today Indian condition of economy and standard of living in India made the poor people to live in footpaths of Mumbai.Mumbai is feeding 1/10 ( one tenth) of the total Indian population.Due unequal development of the economy through out state in India, people migrated to Mumbai. and some live in footpath. I just request my friends before commenting should anaylise the situation.Every Indian may be rich or poor should abide the law and should be punished accordingly for misdeeds. There is no regret and sympathy for salman because he is just a popular actor on the screen.

Why do people come to Mumbai if they not arranged accommodation/job etc. Can you think of coming to Middle East and sleeping on the footpath. If you sleep on the footpath there can be accident whether you drive drinking or without drinking. If they knew the risk of sleeping in footpath why did they sleep. They have also slept on footpath which is against the law, why no cases against them. Do they sleep on Footpaths in their native place also, NO. We cannot blame them totally also because it is the respective State Governments who have failed to generate jobs, everybody comes to Mumbai for Jobs from all states, why not punish the local State Governments for not providing sufficient opportunities.

    Baji Salim,

Overall it is a very good judgment…, but we need to wait and see when actually Salman Khan will be behind bars? This accident and historic judgment has opened few questions:
    1) In first place why do our authorities allow people to sleep on footpath and adjacent to the roads or under fly-over bridges? Is it not illegal?

Road meant for Driving……Footpath path meant for walking…..But Vehicle should NOT go out of Road…..Not in Hard shoulders….( Except Police/Abulance/Army’s ONLY..that is also in Emergency )

    2) Accidents do happen…, but why did Salman Khan run-away from the accident scene? With his money power & influence why he did not help the injured?

Its common, Once crime happen NO person is standing like Bollywood hero…Its psychological impact….

    3) I recall a couple more similar accidents did happen in Mumbai where people sleeping on the footpath have been killed! Why we had no trial on those people who caused the accident and in one case the driver of an influential person/political party has been let go free, why?

Validity of Court case depend on Evidence and Witness…Without that NO Court can prosecute the accused…..This is common in India

    4) Why we are trying to punish the person who has committed the crime? Why can’t we look into the possibility of the convict to come up with helping hand for the victims & their families?

There is NO such clauses in Indian Constitution of “ BLOOD MONEY ( like in GCC Countries )……Many time Indian Courts imposed hefty fine for rehabilitation PLUS Jailed the convict….
Just bcoz he has done good service to society he cant spares……This is happening in Armed forces….Even reputed Officers also Court Martialled for wrong deeds…

In our country media influences cases. I don't say that Salman Khan is innocent but at the same time evidences corroborated are not enough to convict him . I am not Salman's emotional fan but let me say one thing that media , since the fateful night of 2002 wanted that Salman khan be punished. Biased reports by news channels portrayed Salman as criminal. I too believe that Salman is culprit but what one believes, is immaterial to a court proceedings. What hurts me is, undue media influence on the case. The way Salman khan accepted the judgement with resignation is commendable.

Sambagowda tea vendor at Bandra was a key witness in this case made Salman Khan jailed. I recollect few prominent Kannadigas who had given correct judgement justice srikrishna commission made Maharashtra CM Manohar Joshi to resign from his post of CM. justice John Michael D'conha whose judgement jailed Jayalalitha CM TN, justice Santosh Hedge judgement in lokayukta commission made Yedurappa CM of Karnataka jailed. There are so many good Kannadigas still believe values and social justice.

Why Ameer Khan is not taking this case into "Sathya Meva Jayathe" may be he is scared of Salman Khan but it should come on SMJ as Salman Khan is big lier and murderer. If he does some social work to cover is sin then it's fake. He deserves to be 10 years jail.

Why dont you raise your voice against Akash ambani who did the same incident but escaped without any fuss. Law should be equal to everyone.

SALMAN KHAN WILL GET DAD ROLE IN FILM. HE CAN'T HOST BIG BOSS SHOW. BECAUSE HE IS A BIG LOOSER.

I DON'T UNDERSTAND WHY COURT REDUCED 10 YEARS TO 5 YEARS.HE KILLED A POOR MAN.

RULES SHOULD APPLY TO SAME EVEN IF HE IS A BEING A HUMAN.

I FEEL SABAGOWDA MUST APPREAL THIS ISSUE IN COURT AGAIN. LET HIM STAY 10 YEARS IN JAIL. JAI HO SAMBAGOWDA.

Salman was allowed to work for 13 years where he made crores of rupees and made mindless 300cr club movies!.. if he was arrested and sentenced in his prime age, of 40s he wld not have been where he is today and neither, would have done so much charity of being human!... it all happened after court cases.. else he wld have been just misfit , spoilt brat in the society who had no respect for law, women, and society! usko toh thanks kehena chahiye... beating women, getting into drunken brawls, rash driving, illegal affairs and two timing, keeping friendship with underworld, threatening and making career end for co stars like vivek oberoi, getting friendly with anti social! kuch kam nahi kiya hai..

I remember, him fighting in KAUP with local fishermen, when he was shooting for jagruti, when he was still a novice!

yes, he was a changed man recently..but then law catches with all, and KARMA THEORY works well! having said this his next movie Bajrangi baijaan will make record business of 500 cr! watch out.. vhe vhe vhe
