Udupi, May 7: After a person was stabbed in a marriage hall at Shirva in the taluk, his small intestine was exposed. He had to be rushed to a hospital in Manipal for advanced treatment in a serious condition. The incident occurred at about 3 pm on Tuesday May 5.

Naveed from Puttige in Moodbidri had come to attend marriage held at Shirva Saud Hall. At that time, he saw that a person identified as A J D'Souza alias Antony D'Souza from Pilar village was fighting with the catering agency staff, claiming that the staff did not allow his scooter to overtake their vehicle. Naveed tried to pacify D'Souza and strike truce between the two sides but in a fit of anger, Antony suddenly drew out a knife from his scooter and stabbed the abdomen region of Naveed. A case was registered at Shirva station.

The Shirva police later succeeded in arresting A J D'Souza. He was produced in a court here. Naveed is reported to be recovering in the hospital. The accused was remanded to judicial custody by the court.
