Bengaluru: Lokayukta files FIRs against Yeddyurappa, Kumaraswamy

Bengaluru, May 7 (PTI): The Karnataka Lokayukta Police has filed FIRs against former Chief Ministers B S Yeddyurappa and H D Kumaraswamy in a land denotificaton case, charging them under the Prevention of Corruption Act and several IPC provisions, including criminal conspiracy and cheating.

Both leaders have been accused of denotifying land at Matadahalli Layout in R T Nagar here, with Vimala, the mother-in-law of Kumaraswamy, and her son T S Channappa, also being named in the FIRs, Lokayukta Superintendent of Police Sonia Narang said here.

Sections 13 (i) (c) and (d) and 13 (ii) of the Prevention of Corruption Act, pertaining to criminal misconduct by public servants have been invoked against Yeddyurappa and Kumaraswamy, Narang said.

Denotification is a process of returning government land acquired for a project to private parties.

The process gathered pace after Kumaraswamy put up the files, and the land was denotified by Yeddyurappa as Chief Minister in 2010, social activist Jayayakumar Hiremath, who is the complainant, charged.

JDS leader Kumaraswamy, predecessor to Yeddyurappa, had headed a BJP-JDS coalition government.

Yeddyurappa had denotified one acre and 11 guntas (1/40th of an acre) of land, which was originally owned by Thimmareddy, Nagappa and Muniswamappa, Hiremath charged.

He also alleged that Bangalore Development Authority had acquired the land for forming a layout Mathadahalli for which it issued the preliminary notification in 1976.

The land was taken into possession in 1988 after final notification and compensation paid to land losers subsequently, Hiremath said.

Besides these, charges under Sections 401 (criminal breach of trust by public servant), 418 (cheating with knowledge that wrongful loss may ensue to person whose interest offender is bound to protect), 420 (cheating), and 120 B (Punishment of criminal conspiracy) of Indian Penal Code have also been slapped against them.

Kiladi Jodi- "Naa benkiyanthe, naa Galiyanthe, e jodi munde whyre hedaruvane" well known kannada song from late Dr. Rajkumar's movie Shankar Guru suits these crooks.

No matter how many cases are filed against Mr. BS Yedurappa, BJP will not kick him out, because he is the Lingayatha vote puller, a strong ligayatha leader, if you don't believe, just visit North Karnataka and parts of South Karnataka like Shivamogga, Bengaluru, Davanagere etc, every kid from that community will endorse him, they don't care if he is corrupt or not, he manage to pull more than 10% votes from BJP in year 2013 Karnataka assembly election and humiliated BJP, same way he manage to help BJP when he was back in their fold, perfect example is 2014 Lok sabha poll, Modi wave also worked its part. After knowing all his corruption charges, still voters of Shivamogga voted him with record margin in lok sabha poll. He is the force to reckon, wait for the next assembly polls, kannadigas know the answer.
Mr. HD Kumaraswamy is same case, he is a vote puller among vokkaliga community, he still has something in him, but these days he lacks political smartness, that is why he is changing constituencies, which caused his down fall in recent Lok sabha poll because Mr. Bacche Gowda from his community was equally strong to split vokkaliga votes, which benefited Mr. Veerappa Moily in Chikkabalapura constiuency.

These to corrupt kings are disgrace to Karnataka, but unfortunately voters still trust them, that is the sad part.
God save Karnataka, God save our democracy.

Mr. Yeddyurappa, the chief patron of the BJP in Karnataka is not shining as expected. He was not seen anywhere at the national BJP leadership conference, it was simply a show of the North Indian BJP show, dominated by the Gujarati tight circle. Even Varun Gandhi was not very happy in the picture and the Karnataka leadership was totally unseen.

Now the Patron got another migraine headache " Lokayukta".

In crime law chases a person from the cradle to the grave. Time is not a factor to trap those who commit a crime/offense. The notification and denotification of land is a mystery for the people of our state. We do not understand how these seasoned politicians could be ignorant of the legal procedures. Lokayukta has taken action now. We have to wait for the end result.
