22 child labourers rescued, two agents held in Bihar

Patna, May 7 (IANS): At least 22 child labourers were rescued and two agents arrested on Thursday at Sasaram railway station in Bihar by the Government Railway Police (GRP), officials said.

"Two agents were also arrested and later interrogated to know more about trafficking racket," a GRP official said.

The GRP team rescued the child labourers while they were being brought from Bijnour in Uttar Pradesh, where they were engaged in a farmer's dairy farm. The agents were ready to send them to a place outside Bihar.

The GRP officials said some child labourers informed them about being paid Rs.1,000 per month for 12 to 14 hours of hard work.

All the rescued child labourers are residents of Chatra district in Jharkhand.
