Mangaluru, May 8: Police in Mulky arrested a newly married man for harassing his wife due to his inability to end an illicit relationship with his sister-in-law.

Makbool Hussain (34) hailing from Punarooru in Kinnigoli had married Padubidri Bengre resident Fouzila (27). He was given 15 sovereigns gold during the wedding. Besides taking the gold from Fouzia, he harassed her to bring Rs 2 lac. Besides this, he had attempted to strangle Fouzia while threatening to kill her, she alleged in her police complaint.

Mulki station police have arrested Makbool Hussain and taken legal action.
