Ruckus in Lok Sabha over extension of session

New Delhi, May 8 (IANS): The Lok Sabha witnessed a ruckus on Friday over extension of the current budget session till May 13, leading to two adjournments of the house during question hour.

Soon after the house assembled, leader of Congress party in the Lok Sabha Mallikarjun Kharge demanded suspension of question hour, alleging the government was extending the session till May 13 without taking the house into confidence.

Lok Sabha Speaker Sumitra Mahajan rejected the request, following which Congress members started raising slogans against the government, leading to adjournment of the house till 11.30 a.m. and then till 12.00 noon.

The government decided to extend the budget session of the Lok Sabha till May 13 on Thursday.

The Lok Sabha was to adjourn on May 8 after the second half of the budget session.
