Kundapur, May 8: A man who had gone for fishing at Hulikal lake near Bidkalkatte of Molahalli gram panchayat limits here on Friday May 8 is feared to have drowned.

Gopala Kulal (50), a local, died after getting stuck in the slush down in the lake and a search for him is in progress.

Water is flowing in Varahi canals at present and the lake is filled with water. Gopal had gone to the lake for fishing. However, as there was slush in the lake, he is feared to have drowned in it.

It is said that he got pulled away by the currents even as the locals watched and he also screamed for help.

Kundpaur fire brigade arrived at the place and tried to locate him. Locals are helping the fire brigade in the search. They are trying to make the water from the lake flow to a low area by removing the mud beside the lake with the help of a JCB.

Gopala is working in a hotel at Bidkalkatte and had gone for fishing in the afternoon. He had also worked as a cook in a hotel in Bengaluru.

He has a wife, a son and a daughter.
