Kundapur: Gas cylinder bursts - shop goes up in flames

Kundapur, May 9: After a shop named Sundara gas stove mechanic shop in the heart of Koteshwar on main road near here caught fire accidentally at about 7 pm on Friday May 8, goods inside the shop turned into ashes. Owner of the shop, Seetharam Shet (45), who suffered serious burn injuries, was admitted into a hospital here.

It is said that fire was started after a gas cylinder suddenly burst into flames when a stove given by a customer was being tested by connecting it to gas cylinder. This fire accident caused loss totalling to two lac rupees as household articles, things and spare parts related with gas stoves, fancy items etc were burnt down.

Fire brigade personnel rushed to the spot immediately and succeeded in extinguishing the fire before it spread to nearby buildings and inflicted more losses. If the fire had spread, there was the risk of various shops and houses nearby getting burnt down. Shet suffered extensive burn injuries to his hands and legs in this tragedy.

Kundapur police visited the spot and took up investigation.
