Six injured in Jammu and Kashmir explosion


Srinagar, May 9 (IANS): Six civilians were injured in Jammu and Kashmir when a grenade lobbed by the militants exploded, police said on Saturday.

The explosion took place at Shopian in south Kashmir.

"Six civilians were injured in a grenade lobbed by the militants in Shopian market today (Saturday)," a senior police officer told IANS in Srinagar.

"The injured have been shifted to hospital for treatment. The area has been cordoned off and searches started to trace the militants."

Some reports said the explosion took place in Shopian, 52 km from Srinagar, when a police party was passing through the town.
