Bengaluru, May 9: With the countdown having started for the verdict in the Disproportionate Assets case against former Tamil Nadu Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa by the Karnataka High Court on Monday, Bengaluru City Police Commissioner M N Reddi has clamped prohibitory orders around the State High Court.

Karnataka High Court Judge C R Kumaraswamy, who had been specially assigned to hear the appeal against the orders of the Bengaluru Special Court Judge John Michael Cunha against the AIADMK supremo and three others in the possession of Disproportionate Assets case, is scheduled to deliver the verdict on Monday at 11 am.

The former Tamil Nadu chief minister and three others were sentenced to undergo four-year jail term and penalty by the Special Court judge on September 27, 2014.

Apart from Jayalalithaa, her aide Sasikala and her relatives V N Sudhakaran, erstwhile foster son of the AIADMK leader, and J Ilavarasi were also convicted by the trial court.

The Bengaluru City Police Commissioner M N Reddi has clamped prohibitory orders around the High Court on Monday, May 11, from morning 6 am to 9 pm.

The prohibitoryorder has been issued following Intelligence reports that hundreds of people would throng the city to hear the judgment, which could pose a law-and-order issue.

Formation of groups of more than five members, conducting processions or public meetings, and carrying banners or playing music has been banned from 6 am to 9 pm on Monday, the order said.

Justice Kumaraswamy had concluded hearing on the appeals filed by Jayalalithaa and three others against the conviction orders passed by the Special Court judge on March 11 and had reserved his verdict.

The Supreme Court, which had heard the bail petition filed by Jayalalithaa and others, had fixed May 12 as the deadline to pass the order.
