M'luru: Cricket betting - Four arrested, cash, items worth Rs 21.2 lac seized

Mangaluru, May 10: Mangaluru city crime branch (CCB) police have arrested four persons and seized from them items worth Rs 21.20 lac which also include cash of Rs 4,90,000.

The arrested persons have been named as Sreejith Shetty (27) from PL Compound, Prajeeth (27) from Shivanagara Pandeshwar, Prashanth (33) from Garodi Edapadav and Rajesh (32) from Anandnagar Akashbhavan.

The CCB acted on a credible information which said that the accused were involved in cricket betting. The four persons were found in a Toyota Innova car on Jail road in city. They were taking bets on the outcome of the ongoing match from the car.

The police seized Rs 4,90,000 cash, 6 mobile phones, a laptop, MTS dongle, Toyota Innova car, a Bajaj Pulsar bike and a record book of cricket betting, the value of seized items has been estimated at Rs 21.20 lac.

CCB inspector Valentine D’Souza, PCI Shyamsunder and their team was involved in the arrest with direction from police commissioner S Murugan and DCP Vishnuvardhan.

The accused have been handed over to Barke police station for further interrogation.
