AAP Govt asks officials to initiate action against defamatory news items

New Delhi, May 10 (PTI): Delhi Government has asked all its officials to lodge a complaint with the Principal Secretary (Home) if they come across any news item which damage the reputation of the Chief Minister or the government, so that further action can be taken.

According to a circular issued by the Directorate of Information and Publicity Department, if any officer associated with the Delhi government feels that the published or aired news item damages his or the government's reputation, he should file a complaint with the Principal Secretary (Home).

"In such case, a reference letter will be sent to the Principal Secretary (Home) containing details of the defamatory imputation published, the mode of publication, factual inaccuracy, details of allegations made and ground for believing that it will harm the reputation of the person against whom the imputation has been made," a senior officer said.

According to the official, the Principal Secretary (Home) will then examine the matter and will also seek the opinion of the Director (prosecution) as to whether the prosecution under section 499/500 of the IPC is to be launched.

If as per the opinion of the Director (prosecution), offence of defamation is made out the Principal Secretary will refer the matter to the Law Department for examining the matter and obtain the sanction of under section 199(4) of the CrPc.

After the sanction of the government is obtained, the home department will forward the case to the public prosecutor for making a complaint under Section 199(2) of the CrPc.

The move came just a few days after, Delhi Government issued order for close monitoring of all news channels.

Meanwhile, Delhi BJP strongly condemned the circular brought out by the Arvind Kejriwal government threatening action against media.

BJP said that the circular is the "result of repeated exposures by media of the Kejriwal government's misdeeds".

This is another proof of "anarchist, authoritarian approach" of the Arvind Kejriwal government, the party said.

It is the least a democratically elected govt., is expected to do - to throttle the voice of dissent in a democracy. People elected AAP to power wanting the literate to rule Delhi. Unfortunately these literate fellows think of only crooked ways to silence dissent. How can a govt., use the tax payers money to file suits against the citizens? Mr Kejriwal should quit if he is opposed to dissent.

Kejriwals major drawback is , he doesnt know the politics. If he knew he would have earned lot of money and payed media. But he is simple man and educated. Not a poet who can please the people with words. His honesty is admired by people with a stunning majority. But if Central Govt have supported him then he would have done wonders . Unfortunately he has been targeted by media, which is nourished by the central government. Its obvious that honest man can not survive in India. Jo diktha hai wo biktha hai ....Wear expensive dress give nice pose and pay the media you will be a national hero . paisa bolta hai . Kejriwal learn the politics soon. Politeness is not acceptable in politics. Whole Indian politicians are ready to crush you.

In India there is a big nexus between Media, Industrialists, Politicians, Cricketers & Bollywood.
Media earns from paid, fake news & Advertisements, all channels are paid including news channels.
Industrialists sell their products with double the rates.
Politicians enjoy Tax payer money & by indulging in Corruption. Cricketers earn by playing(good or bad) & we watch wasting our time & they get crores.
Bollywood makes movies(good or bad) which is watched by us & they earn in Crores.
    So who is the loser?
Only the poor public. The above group earns & the count starts with "CRORES".
India has been looted from many centuries but the tragedy is it's been looted even after Independence which made most of the public "POOR". Rich country in resources with POOR public.

AAP is doing great in governance of Delhi. Traditional parties are shaken and it is only a matter of few years the AK will spread his wings all over India. To clip his wings these parties are using paid media and there for this circular. Other day they created a story about KV’s affair and tried to destroy his family relations. Small children are not spared by the shameless paid media channels. AK is not worried about honest decent but baseless accusations to spoil the reputation of the govt. and officers should not be allowed. He has done a wonderful thing to control this wild media.

Good news by AAP, this should have been started long back in India, because there is doubt in public mind that we cannot trust our irresponsible, Corrupt Media. Good step which will change the scene & also change the Media attitude.

The Circular issued by AAP government is in the right direction. If other parties find that media is falsely reporting they send goons to thrash and destroy property but AAP adopting the legal way is the right way. It is time that Media is tamed and controlled.

Indian Media only thinks of profit. So ther is no morality and social responsibility. Nowadays only commercialization and competition. Schools hospitals doctors wer like temples and Gods to the people . Nowadays these have become a busiiness. If Media is commercialised. The one who pays well will be shown as king in Media. You cant trust the media.

..HAHAHA..look at him..not a single day he spared defaming others using same media before election..from politicians,Businessmen, police, Governor he defamed every one..so many defamation cases against him, now when other starts he feels the pain..But yes, paid media deserves this..INDIAN media has became TAMASHA now a days..its vibrant but without responsibility..recently some media headlines said ' INDIAN rescue team asked to leave NEPAL'..but when you read the report it says all foreign rescue teams are requested to leave & relief teams to stay since Nepal now focusing on relief instead of rescue...the Headline so misleading, many commented negatively..its true also for headlines like 'ATTACKS on religious places'..

Indian Media should be put on trial. If we had a fair & unbiased media, India would not have been a poor country with 70% poor. Corrupt media in the hands of corrupt party led by Corrupt political bosses. Media is so biased in this country which is very much interested in negative news than the real news. Corrupt Media is dividing the country. I totally agree with AAP.

People of India knows who is working for them & who not. TV media helped 29/11 terrorist by broadcasting live. Salman Khan case no TV channel has guts to talk against the actor. They only supported India Against Corruption campaign because it was sponsored by BJP

Kejriwal and his Ministers should float one Media Channel so that they can air only his GOVT achievement like many Political Parties are doing in south side!!!! I think they are the best followers of Mahatma’s Three Principles "See no evil, hear no evil, speak no evil" but fourth one not taught by Mahatma, i.e. “Always do evil work to run your Govt any cost” can be followed relentlessly
