Man conned in Saudi by fake Facebook girl, assaulted, robbed

Jeddah, May 11 (Emirates 24|7): A man from a Gulf country traveled to Saudi Arabia after he was seduced by an Asian man posing as a pretty girl on Facebook.

The rendezvous turned out to be a nightmare for that man, who was beaten up and robbed of SR1,500 (Dh1,500) just after he reached the proposed place.

Police, quoted by the Saudi daily 'Sabq', said the unnamed Gulf man was received on arrival in the western town of Medina by a “family” car sent by the presumed girl.

“When the car was inside a lane in a neighborhood where the presumed girl lives, another man jumped in.

"He and the driver then attacked that man, beat him up and stole SRT1,500 from him,” a police spokesman said.

He said the two Asian were arrested just after the incident, adding that they already have a police record in Saudi Arabia.
