Bantwal, May 11: After a private bus hit a pedestrian near Mittoor Junction on Mani-Mysuru state highway, the pedestrian died on the spot. The accident occurred on the night of Sunday May 10.
Damodar (38) from Yemaje near Vittal lost his life in this accident. He was walking towards Mittoor Junction after parking his tipper truck, when a private contract carriage moving towards Mangaluru from Puttur hit him from behind. Damodar, who was knocked down at great speed, died on the spot.
Locals who rushed to the spot after the accident manhandled the bus driver for negligent driving. Vittal station police sub-inspector, Prakash Devadiga and other personnel went to the spot and controlled the situation. They registered a case relating to this accident.
