Dawood not in Pakistan, says envoy

Lucknow, May 11 (IANS): Pakistan High Commissioner Abdul Basit on Monday denied fugitive underworld don Dawood Ibrahim was living in Pakistan.

Answering queries from media persons here, Basit said: "I just want to say that he (Dawood) is not in Pakistan... What else can I say to that?"

His response came in the wake of union Home Minister Rajnath Singh asserting in parliament on Monday that India will do everything possible to bring back Dawood Ibrahim from Pakistan.

Pakistan was under international obligation to find him as Interpol has already issued a Red Corner notice against him, he said in the Lok Sabha.

"Whether we have to pursue Pakistan or pressurise it, we will not rest till Dawood Ibrahim is brought back," Rajnath Singh said, adding that India has maintained pressure on Pakistan at all levels over the issue.
