Beltangady, May 12: In an accident which occurred between a car and a motor bike near Navoor on Beltangady-Killur Road, the pillion rider of the motor bike died on the spot. The accident occurred on the evening of Monday May 11, and the deceased has been identified as Siddique (25), son of Usman from Punkedadi in Indabettu village. Muhammed, who was riding the motor bike, escaped unhurt.

Siddique, employed in Bengaluru, had come home on leave. He had visited his aunt living at Navoor on Monday. During his return journey home, he travelled by his friend's bike. The accident occurred nearly one and half km away from his home.

A Maruti Ritz car owned by Manjoj from Indabettu that came from the opposite direction hit the motor bike.Although the motor bike rider applied brakes to avoid hitting the car, the bike's wheels skidded because of wet surface due to rain, and the rear side wheel slid and hit the front wheel of the car. The car driver also tried hard to avoid the accident, but the car got tossed into the roadside drain, and its front tyre burst. Siddique, who was thrown to the road at high velocity, died on the spot.

Siddique was to go back to Bengaluru in a week's time. Siddique was providing financial support to the family, as his father, Usman, works as a coolie. He was the only son of his parents, who have three daughters.

Police circle inspector, B R Lingappa, and sub-inspectors, Madhava Koodlu and Chandrashekhar, visited the spot and registered a case.
