Kochi rattled by earthquake

Kochi, May 12 (IANS): Many residents working and living in high-rise buildings in this Kerala city of Kochi on Tuesday afternoon were seen scurrying to safety after experiencing an earthquake that lasted for over a minute.

People at the Kerala State Housing Board's (KSHB) nine-storey building said that the tremors were similar to those experienced on April 25.

"I felt my head spinning. I was here on April 25 also. More or less, it was a similar feeling," said an advocate who was working with the Solar Scam judicial commission office, located at the KSHB building.

Sekhar Kuriakose, an official with the disaster management team, said that a group of French scientists after the Nepal earthquake had predicted that there would be a follow up quake very soon.
