Mangaluru zone basketball tournament held at SJEC

Mangaluru, May 12: VTU Mangaluru Zone Basketball Tournament - 2015 was inaugurated by Dr Abdul Sharief, Principal of PA engineering college, Mangaluru at St Joseph Engineering College, Vamanjoor here on Monday, May 11.

























Sathyendra Bhat, assistant professor of MCA welcomed the gathering.

Dr Abdul Sharief in his inaugural speech said "It is a great honour to be part of this event in this great campus and great basketball court. Physical activities are very important to be physically fit. By physical activity, one can remain fit in both the ways that is physically and mentally. This is not a individual game, it is a team game mainly coordination is very important. In current scenario as in corporate companies this game too requires team work. Through sports players can promote patriotism and secularism. In order to win, all the players need to focus on the game and co ordinate. Concentration is very important in sports and studies. victory and defeat have to be taken in right spirit. I wish all the players very best,"

Dr Joseph Gonsalves, principal SJEC said "I believe people who play basketball grow tall and this is the advantage of this game. I wish all the best to all the teams."

Fr Ajith Menezes, director in charge, Fr Rohith D’Costa, assistant director-SJEC, Rio D'Souza, Vice-principal, SJEC, Dr Vincent Crasta, dean of student welfare and alumni affairs, Fr Alphonsus Cardoza, campus counselor, Preeti Baliga B, Alumni-SJEC, Athokpam Bikramjit Singh, Nithin Kumar Heraje, conveners of the sports advisory committee and others were present.
