Mangaluru: Canonization of Blessed Mary Baouardy - Celebration at Sacred Heart Monastery

Mangaluru, May 12: The canonization of Blessed Mary of Jesus Crucified (Mariam Baouardy) on May 17 by Pope Francis in Vatican will be celebrated with a Eucharistic mass at Sacred Heart Monastery, Cloistered Carmel, Kankanady here on Sunday May 17 at 4:30 pm.

Fr James D'Souza, parish priest of Valencia Church marked the imminent canonization of the Blessed Mary of Jesus Crucified by lighting the lamp during a press meet organised at Sacred Heart Monastery on Tuesday May 12.

Addressing the media Fr Ravi Santhosh Kamath briefed about the history of Blessed Mary of Jesus Crucified.

Sr Olivia briefing about the ceremony, said, "Eucharistic mass wil be held on Sunday May 17 at 4:30 pm. Bishop of Mangaluru Dr Aloysius Paul D'Souza will preside. A light and sound programme on the life of Mariam Baouardy will be enacted by the White Doves at the entrance of Father Muller Hospital.

"Bishop of Mangaluru Dr Aloysius Paul D'Souza will be presiding over the valedictory programme. Chief guests Msgr Denis Moras Prabhu, Fr Pius James D'Souza, Fr Joe Tauro, Fr Richard Coelho, Sr Linette, Fr Scervin, Sr Jacintha will be present. Guest of honour MLA J R Lobo, MLC, Ivan D'Souza, Roy Castelino and Elias Fernandes will be present," she added.

Sr Shalini, Elias Fernandes, Stanley Bantwal and others were also present on this occasion. Sheldon Crasta compered the ceremony.

The celebration at the Monastery will be webcast live on daijiworld.com from 4.30 pm on May 17.

    Great news...it is happening in our own Mangalore. The event is organized in a grand manner to commemorate the canonization of Blessed Mary Baouardy. All the best of luck and may the good Lord shower all the blessings on the Sacred Heart Monastery and also on the white doves team.
