Dubai: Kannada Mitraru’s maiden annual day concludes

Dubai, May 12: Kannada Mitraru UAE conducted its maiden annual ‘Kannada Paata Shaale’ graduation day at Fortune Grand Hotel Dubai, here on Friday May 8.

Kannada Paata Shaaley (Kannada School), a free education facility, is initiated by Kannada Mitraru UAE under the leadership of Sashidhar Nagarajappa. This initiative is being taken to teach Kannada to the children of Kannadigas residing in UAE with the support of JSS Education Institutions who have provided premises to conduct Kannada classes in their school.

The programme started with a prayer song by Maurya and Sinchana, Bharathanatyam. Deeksha presented a dance on the occasion, followed by various Kannada classical, folk and melodious songs sung by various students. Arnav and Chetan presented melody on the keyboard and entertained the audience.

Overseas Kannada Film distributor, Deepak Somashekar presented the activities of Kannada Paata Shaaley in a beautiful video presentation.

CEO of JSS Intl School, Dr D P Shivakumar, Chilly Willy MD, Satish Venkataramana, Sashidhar Nagarajappa and Murugesh Gajre inaugurated the function by lighting the traditional lamp. Dr Shivakumar appreciated the good work of Kannada Mitraru UAE and assured to extend his support.

Later the teachers of Kannada Paata Shaaley, Premalatha, Shwetha Nadig, Kavya Yuvraj, Shuba Arun, Shilpa Siddalingesh, Roopa Shashidhar, Srinidhi Hariprasanna and Surekha Babu who were teaching Kannada without any financial gain, were felicitated by the guest for their selfless service.

Further arts and craft teacher Surekha Babu & Vivek Anand and Jasmitha Vivek who taught photography and dance were also honoured.

All the students who have passed in the exams conducted in Kannada were honoured with a certificate and medals by the guests Praveen Shetty, Dr Shiva Kumar, Sathish Venkataramana, Shodhan Prasad, Veerendra Babu, Mallikarjuna Gowda and Manohar Hegde on the stage.

The smiles on the face of all these children remained throughout the programme. They were showing their medals to their parents who enjoyed the proud moments.

Pranav, Ishitha, Yashaswi, Mourya, Sinchana and Ashish who had 100% attendance in Kannada classes during the year 2014-2015, were honoured by Shashidhar Nagarajappa.

A comedy skit was presented by the students Neeraj Nandish, Niroop Nandish, Amar Mallikarjuna, Mahantesh V Babu & Tanshiq V Babu which gave some lighter moments at the end.

The stage programme was led by Premalata and students Pratyush Rao, Shama Chandrashekar & Suhas P Gowda, Shwetha Nadig compered the programme. Sunil Gavaskar proposed vote of thanks.

A sumptuous lunch was served at the end of the programme.
