Modi, Cameron to further enhance India-British cooperation

New Delhi, May 13 (IANS): Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday said he and his British counterpart David Cameron will work together to deepen bilateral ties "on a wide range of issues".

"I spoke to PM David Cameron and congratulated him on his victory and conveyed my good wishes to him and his entire team," Modi tweeted.

"I told Mr. David Cameron that such an impressive win while being the incumbent PM makes his victory even more special," he said in another tweet.

Modi said he and Cameron "both look forward to working together to further enhance co-operation between India and UK on a wide range of issues".

Cameron and his Conservative party swept to a simple majority in the 650-member House of Commons, winning 331 seats in the British general election on May 8.

Modi had congratulated the Conservative leader then, tweeting: "Congratulations David Cameron. As you rightly pointed out- its 'Phir Ek Baar, Cameron Sarkar!' My best wishes."
