Nine killed in Kabul guesthouse attack


Kabul, May 14 (IANS): At least nine people were killed when suspected Taliban gunmen attacked a guesthouse in Afghanistan's capital city of Kabul overnight on Wednesday, an official said on Thursday.

Four gunmen attacked the Park Palace Hotel frequented by foreigners late Wednesday night. The counter attack ended on Thursday morning, the official told Xinhua news agency.

The dead included four attackers shot dead by security forces.

"A dinner party was underway when the shooting began, six people were also wounded during the firing," he said.

He said over 50 people were rescued by the Afghan special forces and investigation is underway.
