Passenger Nabbed while Travelling from Mangalore Airport on Another's Passport

Mangalore, Mar 30: A passenger was nabbed by the Bajpe airport immigration police while atttempting to board Air India Express flight IX 801 to Dubai on Wednesday, March 28, making use of a passport belonging to another person, with his photograph fraudulently inserted inside the laminated surface.
The arrested person has been identified as N K Suvarna (42), son of the late Achyutan, hailing from Kasaragod district in Kerala. Speaking to Daijiworld, immigration officials quoted Suvarna as having stated to the police that he had travelled to Dubai about a year ago on a visit visa. He has told the police that he had lost his passport in Dubai. He worked as a daily wage worker during his stay in Dubai.
To enable himself to travel back to India, he reportedly paid UAE Dhms 4,000 (about Rs 50,000) to one Joey alias John of Trivandrum to get another person's passport bearing the name of Valson, with Suvarna's photograph inserted into the laminated surface of the space meant for the photograph.
Interestingly, Suvarna managed to leave Dubai and fly to Kozhikode (Calicut) airport and get through the immigration at both points. Only when he tried to travel again to Dubai through the Mangalore airport that the immigration police at Bajpe detected the tampering of the passport and interrogated him.
The Mangalore aiport immigration police have won appreciation for their alert and agile action in this case, while the fraud was not noticed in Dubai and Kozhikode airports. It is the second such case detected at Bajpe airport after the international flights commenced operating.
