Toll in Tuesday's Nepal quake rises to 117

Kathmandu, May 15 (IANS): The toll in the powerful earthquake that rocked Nepal on Tuesday has reached 117, Nepal Police said on Friday.

The 7.3-magnitude quake with its epicentre in Dolakha district, some 130 km east of Kathmandu, caused heavy infrastructure damage as structures damaged in the devastating April 25 temblor collapsed after Tuesday's shocks, Xinhua news agency reported.

Over 8,200 people were killed in a massive 7.9-magnitude quake on April 25 and some 17,000 were injured.

Nepal Army, Nepal Police and Armed Police Force along with rescue teams from different countries have been deployed for rescue operations in the worst-hit Kavre, Sindhupalchok, Rasuwa and Nuwakot districts.
