Mangalore, Mar 31: Thieves have broken into the house of K G Shenoy, said to be a retired lecturer, at Kodikal between March 29 and 31 and decamped with gold ornaments worth 27 sovereign, estimated to be of value of over Rs 2 lac.

The Shenoys had locked their house and left for Bangalore on work on March 29. When they returned on Saturday March 31, the house was found ransacked and valuables missing.

The Urwa police, on hearing the news, rushed to the spot. Sniffer dog squad was was summoned.

The house is located on J B Lobo Road at Kodikal. Police sources told Daijiworld that the miscreants may have had the information that they were away for two to three days.

Time and again, the police have been issuing notifications requesting citizens to keep them informed of they (citizens) had to be away from their houses in the nights. But not many take the initiative of informing the police, said a police official.
