Arun Shrivastava assumes charge as Syndicate Bank chief

Bengaluru , May 16: The government on Friday,appointed Arun Shrivastava as managing director and chief executive officer of Syndicate Bank, nearly nine months after the arrest of its CMD S K Jain in a graft case.

The post of MD of the bank had been vacant since the arrest of Jain in August last year.


Arun Shrivastava was executive director of Bank of India, looking after finance, strategy and planning, large corporate and mid corporate business, corporate debt restructuring, project finance and syndication, credit monitoring and asset recovery, publicity and public relations portfolios of the bank.

Earlier, Shrivastava was overseeing the foreign subsidiaries – BoI Indonesia and Botswana and joint venture – Indo Zambia Bank.

He holds a masters degree in science. In addition, he is also a certified associate of Indian institute of bankers and AIBM.

He started his career as a direct recruit officer in Bank of Baroda in 1979. He has been a professional banker for over 36 years of varied experience, including his posting as managing director of the bank’s subsidiary in Kenya and also as a director on the board of bank’s subsidiary in Uganda and Tanzania.

    Syndicate Bank is one of the famous nationalized banks of our country with unique heritage and excellent performance.Good to know the appointment of new MD,Mr.Arun Srivastava who comes from leading bank with great banking back ground.Wish the bank and to him all the best in this new assignment.
