Mangaluru: Two bookies arrested for cricket betting

Mangaluru, May 16: Barke police in city have arrested two persons for indulging in cricket betting business.

Kiran and another man from Ballalbagh are the arrested persons. Police have also seized a Fortuner car, two mobile phones and Rs 59,000 cash from the arrested persons.

Since the IPL matches are going on presently, betting on the outcome of the matches has been going on in city as it is happening in other parts of the country. Several betting syndicates are believed to be operating from city and surrounding areas.

The Barke police on a credible tip off visited the duo when they were engaged in taking bets.

Barke police have registered the case and further investigations are on.
