Teenager who shot at youth held in Gurgaon


Gurgaon, May 16 (IANS): The 19-year-old college student, who shot at a youth twice on Wednesday as he was jealous of the latter, was arrested here on Saturday, police said.

The student Hemant alias Hemu, a resident of Badha village near sector 85 here, was arrested for attempting to murder 21 year-old Anil Kumar.

Kumar is a resident of Kankrola village neighbouring Badha.

"Kumar was shot on May 13 (Wednesday) evening when he was with his friend Vikas near Wazirpur on the Gurgaon-Pataudi road," a senior police officer said.

Kumar and Vikas were about to sit in their car when Hemu came along with another youth carrying pistols.

"Kumar received two gun shots in his abdomen and is under treatment. The accused also fired on the car when they were trying to flee from the spot," the officer added.

Hemu is a first-year student at a Gurgaon government college.

"Initial investigation revealed that Hemu was jealous of Kumar. The accused will be produced before the court of duty magistrate on Sunday," the officer said.

Kumar was also a student.

Hemu's accomplice has been identified as Anand Banjara and is yet to be arrested.

Two country-made pistols and a bike, used in the crime, were recovered.
