Train accident in Germany kills two

Berlin, May 16 (IANS): At least two people were killed and 20 others injured when a train collided with a vehicle in the German town of Ibbenbueren on Saturday, a media report said.

The train hit an agricultural vehicle carrying manure on a level crossing, BBC quoted the police as saying.

"We got an emergency call at 11.31 a.m. and rescue teams, firefighters and psychologists from all over the region were activated to help," police spokesperson Jochen Laschke said.

After hitting the vehicle, the train had come to a halt about 200 metres down the track. Laschke said the lorry driver was not injured.

Ibbenbueren is in the state of North Rhine-Westphalia.
