Udupi, May 16: Senior Congress leader Janardhan Poojary on Saturday May 16 launched an attack on the Narendra Modi-led government at the centre which has completed one year in power, and termed the BJP as 'Bharatiya Jhoot (lies) Party'.
Addressing a press meet here, Poojary said, "A year ago, I had said that I would not speak about Prime Minister Narendra Modi before the completion of one year in power at the centre. Going by the way BJP has functioned, it is fit to be termed 'Bharatiya Jhoot Party'."
Critizing Modi over his foreign visits, Poojary said, "Modi has never travelled across our nation and not responded to the poor people's problems. He did not even visit flood-hit areas.
"I have never seen such a Prime Minister in history who has undertaken so many foreign tours in just one year. He is looting the nation's assets for his own selfish motives. The PMO did not given any information about the expenses of his tours despite RTI query," he said.
"Modi invited all neighbouring countries and signed many peace-keeping agreements, but ironically, attacks on the border are still continuing. Have his tours to neighbouring countries made any difference to India's relationship with those countries or solved problems faced by our fishermen from them? Import of products is increasing as compared to exports. The UPA government had succeed in maintaining balance in the economy, but now this is fluctuating," Poojary said.
Attacking the union government on various issues and calling its promises a 'bundle of lies', he said, "What happened to the promise of bringing back black money in 100 days? Also, the Land Acquisition Bill is a curse to farmers. Why is Modi keeping quiet about women's reservation bill, bullet train and other major promises?"
"The BJP is virtually killing the Gandhi family. Why has Modi sidelined senior BJP leaders like Atal Bihari Vajpayee and L K Advani?," he questioned.
"Modi's lack of concern towards farmers itself is a testimony to the quality of his leadership," Poojary concluded.
