Modi hands over Bhabhatron to Mongolian cancer centre

Ulan Bator, May 17 (IANS): Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday handed over Bhabhatron, a telecobalt machine developed by the Bhabha Atomic Research Centre for cancer treatment, to Mongolia's National Cancer Centre here.

Modi, accompanied by Mongolian Prime Minister Chimed Saikhanbileg, also laid the foundation stone of the Atal Bihari Vajpayee Centre for Excellence in Information Technology and Communication and Outsourcing.

Both leaders unveiled a copper plaque after the symbolic ground breaking ceremony. A Buddhist monk then placed a scarf around Modi's shoulders in a symbol of honour.

The handing over of the Bhabhatron followed by inking of a Memorandum of Understanding between the Tata Memorial Centre of India and the National Cancer Centre of Mongolia for gifting of Bhabhatron-II tele-therapy unit along with a radiotherapy simulator.
