Los Angeles, May 18 (IANS): Actor Will Ferrell has been roped in to star in “Tom's Dad”, an upcoming comedy film from Oscar-nominated Swedish director Lasse Hallstrom.

Ferrell will play Arthur, a struggling nightclub performer in the 1960s Nevada who gets saddled with his estranged 12-year-old son after his former wife leaves on a three-week trip. Arthur is forced to try and re-connect with the boy, reports hollywoodreporter.com.

The shooting of “Tom's Dad” is expected to begin early next year.

Ferrell is coming off the Warner Bros’ comedy “Get Hard” and will next appear alongside Mark Wahlberg in “Daddy's Home”. He is currently shooting “Zoolander 2”.
