Udupi, May 18: In a sad incident, a student committed suicide fearing the outcome of PUC result in Vaddarse Yalahaklu near Kota.

Megha (17), daughter of Mahabala Shetty, is the person deceased.

Megha was anticipating the results on Monday May 18, but feared that she might have failed. On Sunday May 17, she decided to end her life by consuming poison in a room on the first floor of the house.

Fear of the outcome of result has been cited as the reason for the extreme step. However, it is now learnt that Megha passed the exams in second class.

Parents should always keep their children in confidence. Never compare. Words can build an individual or break.
Even after she is married and gone parents should give moral support to their daughter in times of her marital problems. Or else they feel forlorn and some who cannot cope with the situation attempt such drastic solutions.

Last week we read about a Master's daughter who failed & rechecked the paper she got 90 marks extra!!

This girl is totally mad. Today's young generation has got zero level of tolerance and confidence that is all I would say. Nothing more & nothing less.

What parents must be going through now??

May be because of parents fear she would have done this then parents are responsible fully.

Even some of the scientists who invented greatest things are school outs. It is their determination that took them to greatest heights. Even today there are so many people who failed in school or colleges are more successful than MBA/Degree holders. There is no need to fear about failing the exam. Have some goals and work hard towards achieving them and you will see the success.

Dear Mr. Achu, i agree with your first sentence "Few sweet words could have saved her" and i completely disagree with your word "Who cares marks nowadays? keep all your certificates in cupboard and fly to Middle east you can earn more than indian Bank Manager." Yes who ever work in Gulf countries earn more comparatively India. but dont think every one earn more than Indian bank manager. I know many people here who earn 15-16 k per month. (Which is less than income of a normal coolie in India). Even in gulf region also certificate / education / experience matters.

This has happened because of comparison of results who get what and who is best, this was the best result in the end. Favoritism, comparison, status in society all this will never take you a extra mile in your life. Be a good person on this earth.

To keep watch on children's before appearing of exam results for one week's period.

Encourage them and inform whatever is the outcome in the results will be 'welcome' and not to worry much about it.

Education is not the end of all. There are many people in the world without it are in higher position in the society.

I m 50 years old. In my past 50 years I have seen many children who have failed and also many rank holders. But I have seen children who failed or who were average were more successful in life then rank holders. getting good marks is absolutely necessary for a career. But only marks and no talent will not help

That saying is good however God did not create everyone the same. Some are strong and courageous, some are weak and emotional etc. Unfortunately the weak people are not able to handle the pressure / face situations and hence ending life is the only solution comes to their mind. This is the truth.
