'Rons Bantwal is K'taka, Maharashtra cultural ambassador'

Bantwal, May 19: “Rons Bantwal who has gone from a village to the city of Mumbai has been identified not only as a journalist but also in social circles developing a creative personality and becoming a cultural ambassador for Karnataka and Maharashtra,” said Dr Vasanth Kumar Perla, assistant director, All India Radio, Mangaluru.


He was speaking after felicitating Bantwal in a programme held under the aegis of Bantwal Taluk Working Journalists’ Association at the B C Road Press Club on Monday May 18 to congratulate Bantwal for being conferred the ‘Karnataka State Media Academy Award’.

“The contribution of media to all round development in literacy, education, employment and commerce in undivided Dakshina Kannada district is immense. The award to Rons Bantwal is an honour bestowed on such media. By congratulating Rons Bantwal, a non-resident Kannadiga working in Mumbai, the Journalists’ Association has honoured itself,” he said.

After accepting the felicitation, Bantwal spoke about his experiences in his career. He suggested that journalists should change their mindset according to the circumstances. He added that
journalists should unite in order to claim the facilities made available by the government for journalists.

Bantwal Kannada Sahitya Parishad president Jayananda Peraje gave a speech congratulating Bantwal saying that he had developed his personality from his college days which has made him grow to this height. “It is but natural to congratulate Rons who belongs to the taluk,” he said.

Bantwal Working Journalists’ Association president Mounesh Vishwakarma presided over the programme. Dakshina Kannada District Working Journalists’ Association chief secretary Srinivasa Nayak Indaje conveyed his best wishes after being the chief guest. Association vice-president Suryanarayana Poovala welcomed the gathering. Secretary Rathnadev Poonjalkatte proposed the vote of thanks. Treasurer Sandeep Salian compered the programme.
